Trust Matters: 17 Things You Should Always Be Honest About with Your Man

17 Things You Should Never Lie To Your Man About

When you’re in a relationship with someone, honesty is the best policy. You shouldn’t feel the need to lie to a partner and instead should be as open as possible with them. If you remain honest and transparent, the relationship is more likely to last and go the distance. Here are things you should never lie to your boyfriend about.

1. Your friends

Your boyfriend should be okay with knowing who you hang out with for both safety reasons and transparency. If they don’t want you hanging out with someone, there may be a good reason.

2. Where youre going

Lies about who you’re hanging out with are just as bad as lies about where you are. And again, safety!

3. Your job

It doesn’t matter if you work at a fast food restaurant, and he shouldn’t judge you if you do. Tell him the truth about what your job is and how much you make.

4. Loving him

If you have ulterior motives for being with someone, that’s not cool. Also, you should never lie about loving someone just because you’re scared of hurting their feelings.

5. Being OK

Don’t say that you’re fine when you’re not. If he did something to make you upset, it’s better to be straightforward and honest about that fact.

6. Age

Being an older woman doesn’t make you less attractive, but lying does! He shouldn’t care about your age, and if he does, he’s not a good partner for the long term.

7. Childhood

Although some of us have events in our childhood that we don’t like to talk about, you shouldn’t be embarrassed about it. If you had a tough upbringing, you should trust him enough to discuss it.

8. Goals

Hopefully, one day, your goals will merge, so sharing this is important. You can’t pretend you want to become a mom if you hate children and vice versa. One day, the lies will come to an end and end the relationship regardless.

9. Health issues

He deserves to know about a chronic health issue, especially if he might need to help you in a potentially dangerous situation due to said issue. Additionally, if you have an STD, you absolutely need to share it with him because you may spread it.

10. Finances

Let your BF know if you can’t afford to go out every weekend! If saving money is a priority to you or you’re on a budget, he might agree to stay in rather than constantly go out to restaurants and bars.

11. Relationship status

Although some people aren’t into labels, it’s important to define the relationship on your own terms and, most importantly, to determine whether you’re in a monogamous or polyamorous relationship. Open relationships are only okay if both people know about it.

12. Hobbies

Whether writing, crafts, or art, you should be proud of your recreational hobbies and talents instead of keeping them a secret.

13. What you want from him

If you mostly want sex out of the relationship, it’s important to tell him you prefer to keep things casual. If you want to have a serious relationship, this is also important to discuss. Always be upfront about your intentions and communicate your wants.

14. If youre a virgin

We get that this can be a touchy subject for some, but there’s no point in pretending you’ve slept with lots of other people if, in fact, you’ve never been with anyone. Being inexperienced is nothing to be ashamed of.

15. Sexual fantasies

Although you’re certainly entitled to your privacy, don’t fear sharing your bedroom fantasies with your boyfriend. If you share them, he could help make them a reality!

16. Liking his friends

You don’t need to be besties with his besties. If you don’t get along with his friends, it’s best to let him know. He might disagree, but he will respect you for being honest. Just try not to be too harsh about it.

17. Exes

You never know what could come back out of the woodwork, so it’s a good idea to tell bae how many guys you’ve dated before him. If you share a bit about each one, he’ll have a chance to gain insight and get to know both you and your past better.
